Looking Back on 2012......Set Goals - Not Resolutions

This is the time of year when you see new year propaganda everywhere.  New diet, new resolutions, new, new new....... that's great.  However, let's look back at this year before we look forward to the next. What did you accomplish in 2012?  Were your goals on your 2012 New Year Resolutions list or did you complete them minus a list?  Did you start to learn Dutch?  Finally clear out that bookcase?  Create a filing system?  Take the trip you've always wanted? Sit down and make a list of everything you've accomplished this year.  You may be surprised.   After you've made your list and basked in the glow of your accomplishments then make a list of goals for 2013.  Prepare to astound yourself again. Bills, home repair receipts, credit card receipts, restaurant receipts, car repair receipts - all these slips of paper can drive a person mad!  And come tax time - forget it. However with the new year approaching you have the potential for a new beginning.  Think of it - all of your financial/tax papers neatly organized.  Tax preparation is a breeze - and you got your refund sooner because you were prepared. Now, let's break down how to make that happen: You will need a dedicated file drawer or file box for your incoming 2013 financial papers. Some titles for your file folders:  Income, Home Repair/Expenses, Medical, Donations, Mileage.  You can add to or remove these files as it suits your needs. Another benefit to having your financial paperwork organized is the fact that at any time, you can take a look at your income vs. expenses to keep your spending in line. In 2013 you have the potential to be a financially organized & savvy person.  (Your friends will b
