Day Three: Joyfully Organized - Laugh Out Loud!

Each day from December 7th through the day of the Joyfully Organized Teleclass - January 7th - I will be posting each day about something that made me happy, joyful, smile or laugh - you get the idea.

 A few days ago, I walked into the post office to pick up the mail.  Who do I see in the lobby?  Dave.  Now normally, Dave is at the counter just beyond the lobby.


I laughed out loud.  In fact, I'm surprised that this picture isn't blurry for all of the laughing I was doing.  I think Dave understood that I was laughing with him and not at him (he usually gets my quirky sense of humor).

 I really could not figure out why this was so funny until I thought about it.  You see, Dave has a personality that is larger than life - definitely larger than this little cardboard box that he is sitting behind.  So trying to "box him in" was just funny to me.  It cannot be done.

 I have felt boxed in.  I hated it.  So I decided to change it.  That took some time.  First I made a plan (well, kind of) and then I ended up taking a leap of faith.  For the most part I feel like it worked out.  I am, however, very joyful and thankful that I am no longer boxed in.

A couple of years ago, my husband and I traveled to Italy for a 3 week trip. On the way to board our plane to return home, we got questioned by the gatekeepers at the airline.  What was your business in Italy?   What did you purchase?  How long were you here?   When I told the guy 3 weeks, he didn't believe me because we had no checked luggage.  We only had the two carry on's that you see here - along with my purse and a backpack. Change is uncomfortable - but gorgeous at the end.

Change is uncomfortable.  It makes me uneasy.  It's unsettling.   Have you ever felt the same? Change, for me, was also necessary.  Which is totally contradictory to what I just said, right? A few weeks ago, I was talking with my coach and sharing with her that I was feeling super uncomfortable.  I was somewhat aware that I was changing, but I wasn't giving it my undivided attention.   Carol, my coach, explained to me that I was feeling was completely normal.  And I knew it - but I didn't want to necessarily deal with it.  She asked me to embrace it.  Once I did, I got even more uncomfortable.  It was one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced.  It was difficult for me to make a decision.  Who am I?  Who am I changing into?  Do my old thoughts and ideas match who I am becoming?  How is this change going to change the way I present myself, work with clients, live my life?
