The LTD Catalog and Summer

Ah the pages of planters shaped like airplanes that light up, the summer reading 3 pack of Nicholas Sparks books, and the set of 16 paper plate holders - all say summer to me. It's all very seductive. Buy this beach cover up and the margarita-to-go set and you too can have a perfect summer. Until the "stuff" comes. And the bill. And the boxes. It never seems the same as what LTD has pictured. And then you realize - I have no place to put my antiqued rooster kitchen accents or my 12 pairs of no show socks.

Here's my advice - look through the LTD catalog and enjoy the pictures of the happy, smiling, carefree people enjoying their summer with their misty mate chiller deal. Then toss it in the recycling - and go outside and enjoy YOUR summer without all the "stuff".

Change is uncomfortable - but gorgeous at the end.

Change is uncomfortable.  It makes me uneasy.  It's unsettling.   Have you ever felt the same? Change, for me, was also necessary.  Which is totally contradictory to what I just said, right? A few weeks ago, I was talking with my coach and sharing with her that I was feeling super uncomfortable.  I was somewhat aware that I was changing, but I wasn't giving it my undivided attention.   Carol, my coach, explained to me that I was feeling was completely normal.  And I knew it - but I didn't want to necessarily deal with it.  She asked me to embrace it.  Once I did, I got even more uncomfortable.  It was one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced.  It was difficult for me to make a decision.  Who am I?  Who am I changing into?  Do my old thoughts and ideas match who I am becoming?  How is this change going to change the way I present myself, work with clients, live my life? A couple of years ago, my husband and I traveled to Italy for a 3 week trip. On the way to board our plane to return home, we got questioned by the gatekeepers at the airline.  What was your business in Italy?   What did you purchase?  How long were you here?   When I told the guy 3 weeks, he didn't believe me because we had no checked luggage.  We only had the two carry on's that you see here - along with my purse and a backpack. "You mean to tell me that you've been in Italy for 3 weeks and this is all the luggage you have?", said the attendant.  Yep.  His next question, "What did you buy?"  2 DVD's and a pair of shoes.  "Your joking, right?"  Nope.  I said that we traveled to Italy to enjoy the experience, not to shop.  Apparently this is not the norm.
