I had the pleasure of speaking to a Holistic Mom's Group recently. In researching organic, sustainable products to organize children's rooms I found the following products/solutions.

Store picture books as a flip-file, standing upright in a plastic dishpan. The child flips through the books, makes his selection, and tosses the book in the front of the dishpan when he's done.

An over the door shoe organizer is a great place to store toys, dolls and accessories.

Bamboo Toy Box
Bamboo is fast growing and does not need the help of pesticides or chemicals.




Organic Fabric bags
Hang hooks on the walls at your child's height with the outside labeled.





Baskets - natural reed or bamboo
Sort toys into various sized baskets. You may also want to label the outside of the baskets with pictures to help small children pick up easily.

Clay pots
Paint the outside of the pots with non toxic paint.  Also, one mother at the meeting suggested wrapping the pots with pictures your children have drawn or colored.  What a great idea!

Change is uncomfortable - but gorgeous at the end.

Change is uncomfortable.  It makes me uneasy.  It's unsettling.   Have you ever felt the same? Change, for me, was also necessary.  Which is totally contradictory to what I just said, right? Can you see your future?

I was coaching my client, Carolyn today.   She was stuck in a mindset of only seeing her present circumstances or even worse - the past.  She wasn't seeing her future .  Turns out, she never thought about it.   I asked her - W hat it would mean for your life once the paper piles are gone?  What it would mean for your life once the necessary repairs were made to the kitchen and bathroom?  What it would mean for your life once the dread, shame and weight off your shoulders was lifted?  She kept going back to how her home looked right now and the struggles she was faced.  She wasn't seeing her future.  But I was.  Carolyn is so close to having her home decluttered.  But she was still living in the past.
