Send a Card to A Friend

Image
February 7th is Send a Card to a Friend Day.  A real card.  In the mail.  Imagine that!  What a wonderful way to keep in touch. To make it really easy and fun for you to send those cards to your friends I would like to show you how I have organized my greeting cards. The box that you see below is my greeting card box.  I purchased this from Current many years ago and it has served me well.  I think I paid around $12.00 for it.  They provide you with labels and dividers which work great.  I did add one category to the very back of the box marked Assorted.  In that category I have some extra envelopes and some oddball cards.  For example - an Easter, Halloween and a St. Patrick's Day card.  Now I've never known anyone to send out St. Patrick's Day cards but you never know when I might have the need for one.  I also have a Valentine's Day Card for my husband that I forgot to give him a few years ago - so I'm all set for t...

Planning Schmanning....

I recently saw a post on Facebook about planning and why bother doing it.  I filed this in my memory and thought - I've got to write about this. I am a  planner.  Always have been.  I have to get everything ready for the next day, the night before.  Files pulled, clothes selected, GPS programmed, etc.  That way I can get going without any roadblocks.  Now, there have been times when I've been too tired to prepare for the next day.  Those  mornings never go well.  I can't figure out what to wear, takes me forever to find the address to where I am going, I forgot I needed to leave a little earlier to get gas, etc.  Do you see why I'm a planner?  I really don't want to start my day like that . It just sets me up to have a rotten day - and who needs it? In another post on Facebook, the topic was having an organized desk.  Much of the discussion was that it is not possible and only people with nothing better to do were o...

Week 1 - De-Clutter Support Group

Image
We began our meeting with an icebreaker.  Each attendee was given a blank piece of paper and with their eyes closed, I read instructions.  After all of the instructions were read and each piece of paper was held up - no two came out alike.  The point I was making is that each of us sees and hears things differently.  That is okay.  Everyone's organizing style is different. After the icebreaker, we each took turns telling our story.  There were tears, laughter and many of us shared similar stories.  After the introductions we discussed the topics for the first group which were getting started and procrastination.  These two topics were very interesting to my 6 attendees.  We discussed how to get started, scheduling, organizing, getting stuck, organizing products and finally procrastination. Finally, each attendee was paired up with a de-clutter buddy, contact information was exchanged and they were to contact each other during the week...

I Want You To Meet My New Friend

Image
Isn't she gorgeous?  She is my brand new organizing bag. I got her from L.L. Bean last week after ditching my trusty backpack.  Why?  The backpack was okay but it was not GREAT.   It was too deep and everything that was not in a container of it's own fell right to the bottom.  This "bean bag" has the potential to be great. This bag is actually mean for packing toiletries when traveling.  I re-purposed it. I am still in the process of tweaking my new bag.  Right now I have all of my small parts (paper clips, tape, rubber bands) in my roll up bag.   I may be ditching the roll up bag in favor of the small pockets that my new bag contains.  Also, this bag is designed to hang on a hook.  Inside the bag is an over the door hanger that I purchased that should fit the bill. I will report on further developments on  my new bag.

Question: I'm Totally Overwhelmed! I Don't Know Where or How to Start De-cluttering!?
